I like mono. Vinyl, ya know… 12″, 10″, 7″, flexi vinyl, anything that spins, in fact. And when such images are printed on tees – it immediately grabs my attention. So, I was more than happy when fine folks from UK’s tee label (or rather – clothing company) Summerjunk offered to send over one of their shirts for a review here at Tee zine. Among many of their tee designs, I picked “original mono” because it celebrates vinyl singles that play on 45 rpm (plus it reminded me on my first 7″ single “Suzy Q” by Creedence Clearwater Revival).
Browsing their online shop, I’ve noticed Summerjunk a bit slimmer-fitting shirts, so I’ve ordered one size bigger because I don’t like a shirt to choke my body (you might wanna do it, too). After the shirt arrived I’ve also noticed Summerjunk pays attention to details, and that’s a big plus in my book. The shirt has a cool neck label with Summerjunks’ logo printed on it, and there is a cardboard logo too, attached to the neck label by a rope. A dope.
The thing which can be noticed at first sight is that the shirt is of high quality, being a bit thicker and incredibly soft, which is best realised upon trying the shirt on. Also, the shirt has a bit thinner rub around the neck, which makes it look retro, and that goes great with the design itself. Plus, my choice to order a shirt one size bigger wasn’t a mistake because it showed you can still wear a thin looking shirt without having it “glued” to your body. That way the shirt feels very comfortable and lets your body breathe, so to say (it’s a 100% combed cotton shirt, by the way).
I already said how great this design looks and what does it reffer to, so I’ll just add I also liked the choose of colors for it. Summerjunk used heavy red and heavy gold colors for printing, which are strenghten by the contrast black color of shirt. That makes the shirt look appealing, but not too agressive, which is also what I like about it. Stylish and sophisticated, as well as other Summerjunk designs, too. Speaking of which – Summerjunk is now having a kick-ass offer: with each item you offer from their online shop, you’ll get a limited edition Summerjunk logo shirt for free! Yeah, I know, sounds amazing… it actually is!
I will end this review with this conclusion – Summerjunk produced a very fine looking & fitting nice wearable shirt which can be yours for 23 British Pounds, even if you’re not a needle addict like myself. Not THAT kind of a needle, of course…
